Artist of the Week: Debbi Rhodes

“Goddess of Metal Art”

Hello, I am an energetic, enthusiastic, whimsical artist with a fifteen year background in metal fabrication. That is to say I am crazy about making things out of metal.

My particular passion is to take cast off, used up metal goods and re-purpose them into laughable, lyrical sculptures. The majority of my creations is meant to be placed out in the garden to add personality and surprise. It has been my pleasure to deliver and place my pieces in hundreds of local gardens and homes. This is an important part of the process to me, sending my “kids” out into the world, I recall fondly where each one lives. There are pieces I create with a far more serious nature.

Due to the capriciousness of collecting cast away characters, the process is non repeatable. Each sculpture is original and while I may repeat a particular theme, each one is entirely their own personality and character.
